GrayRobinson is proud to share Senior Government Affairs Advisor Robert Stuart recently moderated a conversation with GrayRobinson Founder and Chair Emeritus Charlie Gray during a session with the Orlando Economic Partnership’s (OEP) Public Leadership Institute (PLI). The discussion examined the meaning of civic leadership and the responsibility emerging leaders have in shaping their communities, emphasizing that individuals can have a meaningful and lasting public impact without seeking elected office – a path Charlie has exemplified throughout his distinguished career of service and community involvement.
Drawing on his experience, Charlie reflected on the principles that have guided his work, highlighting the importance of stewardship, relationship-building, and a sustained commitment to strengthening institutions and fostering regional collaboration. He also shared insights into the community initiatives and civic efforts he is most proud of, underscoring that strong partnerships across the business, government, and nonprofit sectors are essential to achieving long-term, sustainable progress.
The conversation provided invaluable guidance to the Institute’s cohort of 29 up-and-coming leaders, offering both practical advice and inspiration for engaging more deeply in civic life and making a positive, lasting impact on their communities. Through Robert’s thoughtful moderation and Charlie’s candid reflections, attendees gained actionable insights and encouragement to apply the lessons of civic leadership in their own work and community engagement.
