GrayRobinson is pleased to share Shareholder Sarah Reiner and Associate Attorney Kayla Manning will present "Two Statutes: One Big Shift: What Florida's New Whistleblower Standard Means for Employers" as part of the Workplace Legal Briefings webinar series on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 12:00 pm via Zoom.
The session will cover the ruling that eliminated the "good faith belief" standard under Florida's private sector whistleblower statute and why it matters for employers, key differences between Florida's private and public employer whistleblower statutes and how each applies to the workforce, and practical guidance on handling internal complaints, investigations, and employment decisions related to purported whistleblowers.
Based in the firm's Orlando office, Sarah practices employment law and commercial litigation, defending private and public employers in workplace litigation at the agency, state, and federal levels. Her practice includes non-compete and contract disputes, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower claims, and wage and hour issues arising under laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act and Family Medical Leave Act. She also advises clients on workplace policies and procedures, internal investigations, employee relations, and agency audits, with particular experience counseling employers in Florida’s cannabis industry. Sarah is a past president of the Central Florida Association for Women Lawyers and was named to Best Layers in America for Employment Law – Management and Litigation – Labor and Employment, 2025-2026.
Also based in the firm's Orlando office, Kayla focuses her practice on defense litigation matters primarily involving labor and employment. She represents clients in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, supporting all phases of litigation, including the defense of claims arising under FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and the Florida Civil Rights Act. Her work includes drafting dispositive motions, discovery requests and responses, legal memoranda, and other litigation-related filings, as well as advising clients on workplace compliance and internal business policies. Manning also handles defense matters in the hospitality, higher education, and retail sectors, including premises liability and automotive liability claims, and is a member of the Orange County Bar Association.
