GrayRobinson is pleased to announce Shareholder Derek Rooney has been appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis to serve on the Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine.
The Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine, within the Florida Department of Health, is responsible for licensing, regulating, and disciplining osteopathic physicians to ensure the highest standards of professional practice and patient care. The Board establishes rules and policies governing the practice of osteopathic medicine in Florida, reviews disciplinary cases, and works to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
Based in the firm’s Fort Myers office, Derek is board-certified by The Florida Bar in City, County, and Local Government Law, representing public and private clients in matters involving land use, municipal law, and public-private partnerships. He serves as counsel to several Southwest Florida municipalities and agencies, advising on issues ranging from land development and environmental law to municipal finance and economic development. Derek also litigates land use disputes across Florida and has extensive experience with claims under the Bert J. Harris, Jr., Private Property Rights Protection Act.
