This preeminent conference brings together leaders in the Life, Health, Disability, and ERISA defense community to share recent developments, strategies, and insights in this specialized area of law.
Shari's session will examine recent court decisions shaping the health insurance landscape, with a focus on medical claims brought by air ambulance providers against medical carriers. Her presentation will cover preemption of state claims by the Airline Deregulation Act, dismissal of their claims based on state law grounds, to challenges arising from the Independent Dispute Resolution process. Attendees will also receive a timely update on cases involving Federal Officer removal.
Based in the firm's Fort Lauderdale office, Shari focuses on ERISA litigation, managed care, and health care law. She represents insurance companies, health maintenance organizations, health provider organizations, and claims administrators in litigation arising from health and welfare benefit plans, including ERISA and non-ERISA employee benefits disputes, contract and claims disputes, individual policy matters, and medical malpractice defense, with experience across behavioral health, dental, pharmacy, telemedicine, and vision sub-specialties. A certified arbitrator and mediator for the American Health Lawyers Association, Shari is an active member of the AHLA Managed Care Section and Payors Plans Section.
