MIAMI, Fla. – GrayRobinson is pleased to share Shareholders Ted Craig and Veronica Meza recently secured a favorable outcome for The Law Offices of Kanner & Pintaluga, P.A., a Florida-based personal injury firm with a national presence. In November 2024, a Houston couple filed a putative national class action in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, alleging that Kanner & Pintaluga and a unit of Progressive Insurance violated RICO by colluding to share car crash victims' private information with the firm. Craig and Meza successfully moved to dismiss the class action claims and the majority of the plaintiffs' claims with prejudice. Progressive Insurance was also dismissed from the case with prejudice.
The case settled in April 2026 on terms highly favorable to Kanner & Pintaluga and was featured in Law360. After finding no evidence during discovery to support their allegations, the plaintiffs voluntarily dismissed their remaining claims, and their attorneys agreed to pay a portion of Kanner & Pintaluga’s attorney’s fees. The plaintiffs’ attorneys also issued a public statement acknowledging the absence of any evidence supporting their allegations and claims.
