Pragmatic Litigator and Higher Education Attorney Rick Mitchell Returns to GrayRobinson

ORLANDO, Fla. – GrayRobinson today announced Rick Mitchell has returned to the firm as a part of the Litigation Section as of counsel. Mitchell will be based in the Orlando office, where he will focus on litigation and higher education matters.

Mitchell has a wealth of experience representing many of Florida’s state universities and state colleges. He handles a wide variety of litigation, including cases concerning business, commercial leases, bid protests, trade secret/restrictive covenants, employment, premises liability, personal injury, wrongful death, Title IX, Public Records Act, and Sunshine Law issues. Mitchell also conducts internal investigations for companies and public entities and regularly serves as local counsel in federal court cases for out-of-state firms and their clients. Prior to becoming an attorney, he was an engineer for the Walt Disney Company.

Mitchell received his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida (UF) Levin College of Law, attended the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Logistics Institute, and received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the UF College of Engineering. He is admitted to practice in Florida, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, among other U.S. District and Circuit Courts. In addition to his practice, Mitchell has served on the board of directors of Give Kids the World, a not-for-profit resort in Kissimmee, Fla., that provides week-long, cost-free wish vacations to critically ill children and their families from around the world.
