Accomplished Litigation Attorney Phil Ward Returns to GrayRobinson

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – April 6, 2021 – GrayRobinson, P.A. (GrayRobinson) today announced Philip Ward, has rejoined the firm as of counsel and will be located in the Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton offices. Ward, an accomplished litigation attorney, was previously with the firm from 2005 to 2017, and is known for putting GrayRobinson on the map in Fort Lauderdale.

"Phil played an important role in opening our Fort Lauderdale office in 2005 and establishing GrayRobinson’s presence in South Florida, which has grown dramatically since then," said GrayRobinson President and CEO Dean Cannon. "We are extremely excited to welcome Phil back. He is a highly regarded attorney with three decades of litigation and trial experience, and will add to our already extensive capabilities statewide."

Ward returns to GrayRobinson to join the firm’s litigation team, where he will focus his practice on complex commercial litigation. Throughout his impressive career spanning more than 30 years, 12 of which have been at GrayRobinson, Ward has garnered significant bench and jury trial experience, representing a vast array of small, medium, and large private and public companies in litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution. Ward has worked closely with general counsel, corporate officers, shareholders, management, elected officials, trustees, and other professionals with a team approach toward obtaining the most favorable resolution for difficult problems.

"Phil’s experience and knowledge of a wide array of large exposure complex litigation, arbitrations, and investigations, coupled with his successful track record, will bolster our firm’s robust litigation practice," said Tom Loffredo, managing shareholder of the Fort Lauderdale office. "We’re glad to have Phil back on our team in Fort Lauderdale and know he will be an extraordinary asset to our clients."

Ward has managed teams of lawyers and paraprofessionals, as lead counsel, in representations of domestic and foreign companies in a wide array of large exposure complex litigation, arbitrations,  and investigations. He also has significant experience with litigation holds involving electronically stored information (ESI) and corporate compliance with safeguarding ESI during threats of litigation and pending litigation. Ward has worked with corporate officers and their IT professionals to ensure such information has been safeguarded in compliance with federal and local requirements to avoid unnecessary litigation penalties and unfavorable inferences.

"I am proud of the role I played in opening the Fort Lauderdale office all those years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the previous 12 years I spent with GrayRobinson," said Ward. "I was ready for a change, so naturally GrayRobinson was the first firm that came to mind. It has always felt like home to me, and I have been impressed with the high caliber of attorneys it has attracted over the years. I look forward to being a part of the team helping our clients navigate the complex world of litigation issues."

Ward is an active member of the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the Defense Research Institute. He is a graduate of the Leadership Broward Foundation Class XV and has been named as Legal Elite by Florida Trend.
