Tallahassee, Fla. – May 28, 2020 – John J. Harris, government consultant in the firm’s Tallahassee law firm office, and Anastasia Protopapadakis, shareholder in the firm’s Miami law firm office, authored an article in the June 2020 edition of the Southern Beverage Journal, Florida Edition magazine. The article, "Phased Re-Opening of Hospitality In Florida," explores future issues pertaining to COVID-19 that will arise in the hospitality industry. In the "Room to Expand?" section of the article, Harris and Protopapadakis discuss opportunities for the alcohol beverage industry in the phased re-opening on May 4, 2020, but also highlight that outside food preparation is still a violation. The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations issued bulletin, which required all restaurants to screen employees and prohibit entry for any employee who answers "yes" to a range of questions, is discussed in "Employment Screening Intensifies?" section. Finally, they discuss the expectations put in place for restaurants, such as limiting the number of customer entry to something below current building occupancy and staggering and limit seating to ensure seated parties are separated by a minimum distance of at least 6 feet.
