Guiding clients through bankruptcies, corporate restructurings, assignments for the benefit of creditors, secured transactions, and distressed corporate and real estate transactions. Creative strategist and artful negotiator, known for practical solutions and advanced financial advisory skills.

Steven Solomon has been advising clients in bankruptcy law, creditors’ rights, receiverships and liquidations, assignments for the benefit of creditors, and corporate governance strategies for more than three decades. With a background in accounting and finance, he represents corporate debtors, creditors, committees, fiduciaries, trustees, boards of directors, receivers, commercial landlords, and purchasers of distressed real estate and business assets both in and out of court. As a collaborator, his approach includes gaining a deep understanding of his clients’ business goals to help them navigate challenging circumstances, maintain and enhance value, and find the best path forward. Steven advises clients in the financial services, real estate, transportation, health care, higher education, and retail sectors, among others. Steven also advises boards of directors on matters of corporate governance and fiduciary duty.

Steven brings parties together to solve problems creatively and facilitate optimal resolutions under complicated conditions. He represents all constituents in Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases, receiverships, assignments for the benefit of creditors, workouts, distressed real estate matters, debt restructurings, acquisitions and distressed M&A, and other insolvency matters. He also provides bankruptcy litigation counsel in matters involving fraudulent conveyance, preferential transfer, breach of fiduciary duty, recharacterization, involuntary bankruptcy, and equitable subordination.

Steven also represents acquisitive companies in growth mode and private equity firms seeking distressed investment opportunities, providing financial and transaction advisory counsel in the purchase of accretive businesses and assets. He regularly teams with GrayRobinson colleagues to assist with business and real estate acquisitions, restructurings, litigation, and operational turnarounds, collaborating with professionals in the real estate, litigation, corporate, regulated products, and private client practices to provide the service line sophistication necessary for complex or protracted issues. Before joining GrayRobinson, Steven served as a senior director of corporate recovery services for a global accounting firm, providing financial and restructuring advisory services to troubled companies, debtors-in-possession, and official committees of unsecured creditors.
