GRay Matters – 2020 Session: Week 9

TALLAHASSEE, FL – March 16, 2020 – GrayRobinson's government affairs and lobbying practice group released its weekly GRay Matters Session newsletter, "2020 Session: Week 9". "The coronavirus, now a global pandemic, shut down nearly every major sport and Florida's major tourist draws, including Disney and Universal. It also led the House –briefly–shut down over concerns that some members could be infected," the newsletter states regarding concerns over the virus taking its toll on the Legislature's only mandate: passing a budget. The "Bill of the Week" is HB 855, which completely removes the requirement to post public facilities reports and meeting materials. This week’s Golden Apple newsletter is highlighted. Lastly, the "Looking Ahead" section discusses though the Legislature missed ending the Legislative Session on deadline, it isn't expected to go much further. The final vote on the 2020-21 budget is tentatively set for March 18, 2020. Read the full newsletter here.
