GrayRobinson is pleased to share Shareholder Shannon L. Kelly presented “Old Law, New Tricks: Emerging Technologies in the Workplace” at the SHRM Greater Orlando 2026 Legal Summit on October 8, 2026.
With AI notetakers, ChatGPT, and wearable devices, including Meta glasses, arriving at work faster than workplace expectations can keep up, Shannon explored how existing employment-law principles apply to these emerging tools and the everyday decisions HR professionals face when employees bring them into the workplace. Her session addressed recording and transcription, requests to use technology as an accommodation, and privacy concerns associated with new devices and applications, and examined takeaways from some of the first cases addressing these technologies across employment law.
Based in the firm’s Orlando office, Shannon advises employers on labor and employment law matters, with nearly two decades of experience. Her practice encompasses compliance matters involving federal and state employment laws, policy development and revision, internal and agency audits, employee benefit plan design and compliance, and harassment and discrimination investigations, with a focus on complex issues under Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, the Affordable Care Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act. In addition to her work with private employers, Shannon represents higher education institutions, offering counsel on employment law claims and defending clients in litigation under all federal and state employment statutes. Shannon serves on the Board of Directors for iBuild Central Florida and is recognized in Best Lawyers in America (2025-2027) for Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law, Employment Law – Management, and Litigation – Labor and Employment.
