GrayRobinson Shareholder Roger Handberg Speaks on Elder Fraud at Charlotte County Bar Association

GrayRobinson is pleased to share Shareholder Roger Handberg presented “Scams, Schemes, and Safeguards: Lessons from Federal Elder Fraud Cases" at the Charlotte County Bar Association's meeting on May 20, 2026. 

Drawing on his experience as a former federal prosecutor, Roger addressed some of the most common fraud schemes targeting Florida’s elderly population and discussed what attorneys, families, and community members can do to help protect those most at risk. Roger’s presentation focused on identifying the warning signs to prevent a loved one from being targeted or victimized, and the importance of staying engaged, maintaining close relationships, keeping lines of communication open, and knowing how to respond when something seems wrong.   

Based in the firm’s Orlando office, Roger brings over two decades of frontline prosecutorial and litigation experience to the firm’s criminal and white-collar defense practice. As the former U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida, one of the largest and most active federal jurisdictions in the country, Roger has a national reputation for successfully managing major financial crime, public corruption, and regulatory enforcement cases.
