GrayRobinson is pleased to share Shareholder Lauren Eliopoulos recently presented "Diabolical Damages: Recent Case Law Developments Regarding Damage Calculations" at the 2026 Construction Law Institute (CLI), hosted by The Florida Bar Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section.
The presentation provided a comprehensive review of case law discussing the proper measures of damages in construction defect cases from 1977 through 2025, relevant jury instructions, and other key considerations including non-contract-based disputes, liquidated damages, and prejudgment interest.
Based in Tampa, Lauren is board-certified in Construction Law by The Florida Bar, concentrating her practice contract preparation, liens, and defect litigation on behalf of developers, general contractors, and subcontractors throughout Florida, with extensive experience in the defense of installation and product defect claims involving corrosion, water intrusion, and coating failures in sliding glass doors, windows, and railings for single-family homes, multi-family communities, mixed-use projects, and high-rise condominiums. She handles matters at all stages, from pre-suit negotiations through litigation, arbitration, and trial, with notable appellate decisions in Florida’s 2nd, 3rd, and 4th District Courts of Appeal. She also presents continuing education courses for insurance adjusters and contractors on Florida Statute 558, the Statute of Repose, risk transfer analysis, and case resolution strategies, among other essential topics.
