Navigating Personal Injury Claims Against Vessel Owners and Time Charterers" panel at the Sailing In Savannah 2025 Maritime Law CLE Conference on November 14, 2025, in Savannah, Georgia. Presented by the Admiralty Law Section and the Southern District of Georgia Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, the annual conference gathers leading maritime law practitioners, vessel owners, insurers, and industry stakeholders for a day of continuing legal education and professional networking.    

Jim’s session will explore the complexities of personal injury claims brought under Section 905(b) of the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, focusing on the legal and practical challenges facing vessel owners and time charterers. His panel will provide insights on recent case law, contractual risk allocation, and best practices for minimizing exposure in maritime operations.

Based in the Jacksonville office, Jim serves as the head of the firm’s Admiralty and Maritime Team. Jim is recognized as a national leader in Maritime Litigation by Chambers USA and is board-certified by The Florida Bar in Admiralty and Maritime Law. He handles litigation, commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, and non-litigation counseling for shipowners, operators, insurers, logistics companies, railroads, and other transportation clients. Jim is president-elect of the Maritime Law Association, an active member of the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute, and former president of the Jacksonville Bar Association.
