September 18, 2025

GrayRobinson is pleased to share Shareholder Hannah Tyson, B.C.S., joined fellow construction professionals to present “United or Divided: Defense Tactics for GCs and Subcontractors in Defect Claims” at the Claims Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) Construction Conference in San Diego, Calif. CE credits were available for attendees.

Hannah’s session explored the high-stakes world of construction defect claims, where general contractors and subcontractors must balance defending their own interests with staying aligned. The presentation covered the complex dynamics between these two groups, focusing on defense strategies and maintaining cohesion. Through real-world case studies, Hannah demonstrated how plaintiff attorneys exploit these provisions to spark conflict and increase settlement value, and how defense teams can effectively counter. Attendees will gain practical tools for evaluating contract language, managing layered liability, and determining when collaboration or an individual defense approach will best strengthen their case.

Hannah is board-certified in Construction Law by The Florida Bar and brings a deep-rooted passion for Florida’s growth and development to her practice. Throughout her career, she has defended developers, general contractors, and subcontractors named as the primary defendant in construction defect claims. A critical component of her construction law focus is her evaluation and implementation of risk-transfer strategies based on contractual obligations, including defense, indemnity, and additional insured rights, to protect the interests of her developer, general contractor, and subcontractor clients.
