September 19, 2025

GrayRobinson is pleased to share Shareholder Lauren Eliopoulos, B.C.S. joined fellow construction professionals to present "Decoding Damages: Strategies to Limit Exposure and Maximize Defense" at the Claims Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) Construction Conference in San Diego, Calif. CE credits were available for attendees.

Lauren presented on strategies attorneys can use to limit exposure in construction defect cases as construction and repair costs continue to rise. She examined a recent Florida Third District Court of Appeal decision requiring that damages be measured from the date of the breach rather than at trial. Because identifying the breach date involves a fact-specific analysis with experts, clients, and counsel, Lauren discussed how the ruling will affect damages opinions and litigation strategy. She showed how attorneys can use the revised measure of damages to limit expert opinions, develop alternative models, and select the best approach for their clients. Attendees learned practical techniques to challenge and counter inflated damages figures advanced by plaintiffs.

Lauren is board-certified in Construction Law by The Florida Bar and focuses her practice on all aspects of construction-related matters from contract preparation and execution, to liens, and defect lawsuits. Lauren has a strong track record of successfully resolving claims at all stages, from pre-suit negotiations through litigation, arbitration, and trial. In addition to her legal practice, Lauren delivers valuable continuing education. She regularly presents courses for insurance adjusters and contractors, covering essential topics, such as Florida Statute 558, changes regarding the Statute of Repose, risk transfer analysis, and case resolution strategies.
