Community Leader Forum – Orlando – Dr. E. Ann McGee, President, Seminole State College of Florida

ORLANDO, FL – April 2, 2015 – On March 30, 2015, GrayRobinson’s Orlando office hosted a Community Leader Forum featuring Dr. E. Ann McGee, President of Seminole State College of Florida. Her topic of discussion was "Seminole State: You Don’t Know the Half of It; Through the Eyes of Our Students."

Seminole State College is currently celebrating its fiftieth year. Dr. McGee shared the history of the school with the audience, including the most recent changes in 2009: offering baccalaureate degrees and changing its name to Seminole State College (SSC). SSC is the eighth-largest of the 28 colleges in the Florida College System; has an annual enrollment of more than 30,000 students; and offers more than 200 degrees, certificates and programs, including five bachelor’s degrees. Its DirectConnect partnership with the University of Central Florida is considered a national model. For more information on SSC’s fiftieth anniversary, please click here. McGee has been the president of SSC since 1996. Since she took over as the college’s second and first woman president, SSC has grown from only one location to six across Seminole County. The enrollment for the college is at an all-time high. McGee is the recipient of multiple awards, most recently including the Atlantic Institute Central Florida Global Vision and Education Award, the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission's (EDC) James B. Greene Economic Development Award, and the Women’s Executive Council of Orlando’s Women of Achievement in Education Award. She is also very involved in the community, serving on the Board of Directors for the American Association of Community Colleges, the Florida College System Council of Presidents and the Board of Directors for the Higher Education Research and Development Institute, Inc. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Florida State University and her Doctor of Education from Nova Southeastern University.

Through its Community Leader Forums, GrayRobinson brings together clients, attorneys and friends of the firm to hear high-profile business and community leaders and elected officials discuss issues of importance to the state of Florida.
