FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – GrayRobinson is proud to announce Shareholder Eric Yesner was elected chair of the 17th Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC). Yesner was appointed to the commission by Governor Ron DeSantis in December 2024 and was elected vice chair in July 2025. He previously served on the 4th District Court of Appeal JNC from 2020 to 2024.
The Seventeenth 17th Judicial Circuit of Florida is the court for Broward County, headquartered in Fort Lauderdale. It is the second-largest circuit court in the state, with 58 circuit judges and 32 county court judges. The Seventeenth 17th Judicial Circuit JNC plays a critical role in shaping the judiciary of Broward County and serves as a key component of Florida’s merit-based judicial selection system. Each JNC is composed of nine members, five appointed directly by the Governor and four selected from nominees provided by The Florida Bar. The commission reviews applicants for circuit and county court vacancies and recommends nominees to the governor.
Based in the firm's Fort Lauderdale office, Yesner focuses his practice on appellate and trial matters in state and federal courts, government and administrative litigation, and election law. His government and election law work includes representing state agencies, nonprofit organizations, and policy think tanks. Before entering private practice, Yesner clerked for Judge Barbara Lagoa of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, Judge Raag Singhal of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and Judge Jeffrey T. Kuntz of Florida’s 4th District Court of Appeal. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America as “Ones to Watch” in Appellate Practice and Healthcare Law from 2025 to 2026, and by Florida Super Lawyers as a Rising Star from 2022 to 2026.
