TAMPA, FL – June 19, 2014 – David L. Smith, managing shareholder in GrayRobinson’s Tampa office, has been elected to continue to serve as chair for the Tampa Downtown Partnership for the 2014-2015 term. The Tampa Downtown Partnership fosters Tampa’s vibrant and diverse multi-use downtown neighborhoods and plays a key role in creating a 24-hour urban center where people can learn, live, work and play. They serve as the steward of downtown Tampa, cultivating public and private partnerships, and encouraging downtown’s physical and economic development. As a proactive leadership organization, the Tampa Downtown Partnership acts as an advocate for the downtown community.
For over 33 years, Smith has been a real estate and land use and local government law attorney. His practice includes obtaining state and local government regulatory approvals and all matters attendant to the acquisition, development and utilization of real property. Smith has been responsible for the application and approval of multiple Developments of Regional Impact. He has represented numerous lending institutions in drafting the documentation and closing all manner of real estate and commercial loans. He has worked in special assets, assisting bankruptcy practitioners with the implications of complicated business and real estate transactions. Smith has issued title insurance in conjunction with loans, acquisitions and developments in state and multi-state undertakings as aggregate refinancings or exchanges. Smith also served as Tampa City attorney for more than four years and was involved in all aspects of the city’s legal concerns.
