GrayRobinson, P.A.’s Fort Lauderdale office hosted a Community Leader Forum on May 8, 2014, at the historic Riverside Hotel. Clients, attorneys and friends of the Firm gathered to listen to featured speaker, Dr. George L. Hanbury, II, President and CEO of Nova Southeastern University (NSU), discuss past and current successes, as well as future goals.
Dr. Hanbury’s presentation touched upon a number of NSU’s notable achievements. NSU is 1 of only 37 higher educational institutions to earn a Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching designation for both High Research Activity and Community Engagement. NSU, which offers more than 50 undergraduate majors and 100 graduate and professional programs, provides a complete experience for students, including an NCAA athletics program. Dr. Hanbury also highlighted NSU’s unique Dual Admission Program where qualified students may be able to secure seats in one of NSU’s graduate or professional programs while pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
Dr. George L. Hanbury II is the sixth president of Nova Southeastern University, the nation’s eighth largest private not-for-profit university, located in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Having taken over as President and CEO in July 2011, he has already begun to build on the legacy of former presidents and elevate the university’s standing to one of national prominence. Among his first accomplishments as president has been to refocus the university’s mission and vision, and lay out eight core values to guide the university into 2020 and beyond: Academic Excellence, Student Centered, Integrity, Innovation, Opportunity, Scholarship/Research, Diversity and Community. Dr. Hanbury’s student-focused mindset also shines through in his courses, as he continues teaching public administration at NSU’s Huizenga Business School.
