KEY WEST, FL – April 30, 2014 – GrayRobinson welcomes Susan Cardenas as of counsel in the firm’s Key West office. With more than 30 years of experience, Susan represents clients in a wide range of real estate transactions, including financing, leasing, and acquisition and sale transactions. Susan will continue to practice as a partner of Stones and Cardenas in addition to serving clients of GrayRobinson in her of counsel capacity.

In her practice, Cardenas handles residential and commercial real estate closings. She frequently represents business entities in formation issues, contract disputes and commercial leasing. Her financing experience includes representing borrowers and lenders in mortgage loans and representing institutional lenders in loan workouts, restructures, short sales, deed-in-lieu transactions and commercial foreclosures. Her experience also encompasses the representation of commercial developers in financing, leasing, and acquisition and sale transactions, including shopping center sales and acquisitions, guesthouses, restaurants and mixed use developments.
AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell, Cardenas is a member of The Florida Bar and has served three terms on their Grievance Committee. Cardenas is actively involved in the community and spends much of her time providing local volunteer services. She currently serves on the board of governors for the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys, a position she has held since 2010, and serves on The Studios of Key West’s, a non-profit arts and cultural organization, advisory board and provides pro bono legal services for them. Prior to that, Cardenas served on the board of directors for the Bahama Village Music Program and the Monroe County-division of Big Sisters Big Brothers. She is also past president and former board member of the Key West Art and Historical Society.
Cardenas received her B.A. from the University of Florida and her Juris Doctor with high honors from the University of Miami School of Law. While at the University of Miami, she was a member of the school’s Law Review and was a member of the Moot Court Board and the Order of the Barristers.
