GrayRobinson today announced Shareholder and Litigation Deputy Section Chair Ashley Lukis has been appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis to the Florida Commission on Ethics, effective Thursday, July 27, 2023, for a two-year term. The commission serves as the guardian of the standards of conduct for officers and employees of Florida and its political subdivisions and functions as an independent commission responsible for investigating and issuing public reports on complaints of breach of the public trust by public officers and employees. In her role, Ashley works with other commission members to interpret and apply Florida's ethics laws by acting on complaints, recommending penalties, and issuing legal opinions. The commission also recommends legislation to improve Florida's Code of Ethics and its enforcement. Ashley is located in the firm’s Tallahassee office, where she defends private clients and government entities in civil litigation at the trial and appellate court levels, in federal and state court. She centers her practice around litigation involving public entities and issues of public policy, including complex constitutional claims and defenses.
