GrayRobinson Government Affairs and Lobby Team’s Chris Dawson advocacy efforts during the 2022 Legislative Session today resulted in a significant win for the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association (FRSA) and Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) with the newly approved House 2022-23 tax package, which includes the ‘skilled trades’ tax break holiday. The holiday will coincide with Labor Day and fall on September 3-9 to waive sales taxes on tools for skilled trades like roofers, mechanics, carpenters, plumbers, and electricians. Sales taxes would be exempt on certain tools, tool boxes, and other supplies at various thresholds ranging from $25 to $300. The list includes industry textbooks and code books selling for $125 or less.
