February 1, 2022

GrayRobinson Government Affairs and Lobby Team’s Chris Dawson advocacy efforts during the 2021 Florida Legislative Session today culminated in multiple clients receiving over $10 million in collective funding to help prepare Florida’s coastal communities for the impacts of sea level rise and flooding. The funds were awarded by Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection as a part of the Resilient Florida Grant Program for Fiscal Year 2021-22. Dawson successfully helped Escambia County obtain $1.28 million total for the Surrey-Wishsong Pond, Outfall, and Rehabilitation, Ellyson Industrial Park Drainage Improvements, Oakfield Acres - Belle Meade Drainage Improvements, and Frinchez Heights (Sabra, Erwin, Whitmire, Ernistene Area); City of Belle Isle obtain $200,000 for the Sol Avenue Rebuild; and Gulf County obtain $9.38 million for Roads and Stormwater. All of these projects awarded will enhance Florida’s efforts to protect inland and coastal communities from storm damage.
