GrayRobinson’s Government Affairs and Lobby Team Helps Secure Delano Street Drainage Improvements in Escambia County to Significantly Reduce Flood Risks

January 6, 2022

GrayRobinson Government Affairs and Lobby Team’s Chris Dawson’s advocacy efforts both in Washington, D.C. and Tallahassee, Florida today resulted in Escambia County receiving Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (Stafford Act), further securing major improvements for the Delano Street Drainage Area. The funds will assist in modifying existing stormwater facilities and infrastructure to increase efficiency and capacity as well as the acquisition of new sites to add to the existing capacity within the area. Due to significant impacts from various strong hurricanes and rain events damaging businesses, residents, transit networks, and roads, the Delano Street Study Area will construct four new dry retention stormwater ponds and expand to formalize a wet retention facility.
