Christopher L. Carmody, Jr. Receives Leader of the Year Award at The Gator Gala

GrayRobinson Shareholder Christopher L. Carmody, Jr. was recently honored with the 2012-2013 Leader of the Year Award for the University of Florida Alumni Association at its annual Florida Forward meeting.  Carmody is currently serving as president of the Central Florida Gator Club. The Club is a local affiliate of the University of Florida Alumni Association, and also received three other awards at the event: Outstanding In-State Large Club; Outstanding In-State Program/Event; and Best Young Alumni Program In-State.

The Club was awarded Outstanding In-State Large Club for an impressive three years-in-a-row. The Best Young Alumni Program In-State award was given for the Club’s participation in the Grid Iron 5K and SEC Pub Crawl in August 2012. Carmody is the Club's first Leader of the Year recipient.

The Central Florida Gator Club is comprised of Gators in Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties. Each year the dedicated volunteers put on numerous events throughout the Central Florida region. "Most Gators don’t know, but each time someone joins the Alumni Association, UF gains in the U.S. News and World Report rankings," said Carmody. "It is the only metric we, as alumni, can directly affect.  So, we are going to do our part and sign up as many Gators as we can.  The goal of UF is to be a Top 10 public university.  We will do our part to get them there."

Carmody is a Designated Professional Lobbyist from the Florida Association of Professional Lobbyists and is an attorney admitted to practice in all Florida state courts. He has substantial experience handling government relations matters, including representation before the Florida legislative and executive branches, purchasing and procurement appeals, and professional licensing.
