ORLANDO, Fla. - March 12, 2013 - Benjamin W. Newman and Chris L. Carmody, Jr., shareholders in the Orlando office of GrayRobinson, P.A., are taking part in the Central Florida Partnership's "Trip to Washington, D.C." this week from March 13-14. Newman and Carmody will accompany more than 50 other Central Florida leaders traveling to the nation's capital to advance our regional needs in the areas of hospitality, travel and tourism, research funding, entrepreneurship and base realignment and closure.

As part of GrayRobinson's litigation group, Newman concentrates his practice on insurance defense, medical malpractice defense and mediation/arbitration services. He represents medical and podiatric physicians, hospitals, home health nursing agencies, chiropractors and emergency medical services. He frequently leads presentations and seminars to physicians, hospital staffs, health care administrators, and insurance professionals on a variety of liability and risk management issues. Newman also focuses on his alternative dispute resolution practice as a federal and state certified mediator, as well as a qualified arbitrator by the Florida Supreme Court. He is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and The Florida Bar.
Newman holds several other community leadership roles. He is involved with the Seminole County Sheriff's Office and is currently chair of the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Seminole State College of Florida. He also sits on the board of directors for Kids House of Seminole and Trinity Prep Alumni Association.
He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami and his Bachelor of Arts from American University.
Chris earned his certification as a Designated Professional Lobbyist from the Florida Association of Professional Lobbyists and is an attorney admitted to practice in all Florida state courts. At GrayRobinson, Carmody specializes in government relations and also practices procurement, sunshine, litigation, land use and construction, and sports law. He was recently promoted to shareholder.
Since joining the firm, Carmody has been active in Tiger Bay of Central Florida, Junior Achievement, and Business Force. Recently, he co-founded and currently co-chairs the Young Professional Advisory Council, a division of the Central Florida Partnership. He is also an IDignity board member, co-chair of the Frederick Leadership Initiative and a member of the University of Florida Law Alumni Council.
Carmody received his bachelor's degree from the University of Florida where he was an active member of the student government. Later, he attended the University of Florida Levin College of Law and interned at the Florida Supreme Court.
