GrayRobinson Shareholder Roger Handberg, a former U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida, spoke with HuffPost about a nationwide scam in which callers pose as court or law enforcement officials and threaten arrest for missing jury duty unless a fine is paid immediately. Roger explained that scammers use personal information found online to appear credible and create panic, and noted that legitimate jury communications come by mail rather than by phone, text, or email demanding payment.
"The biggest red flag to look out for is: Does the person seem to not want you to hang up the phone?" Roger told HuffPost.
