Community Leader Forum – Orlando – Laura Kelley, Executive Director, Central Florida Expressway Authority

ORLANDO, FL – September 23, 2015 – On September 22, 2015, GrayRobinson’s Orlando office hosted a Community Leader Forum featuring Laura Kelley, Executive Director of the Central Florida Expressway Authority. Her topic of discussion was "Leading Central Florida’s Expressway Authority Today and into the Future."

Her presentation covered the history of CFX, its mission, and its future. The regional Central Florida Expressway Authority’s (CFX) jurisdiction includes Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties. CFX is responsible for the construction, maintenance and operation of a 109-mile limited-access expressway system. It may also acquire, construct and equip rapid transit, trams and fixed guideways within its rights-of-way. CFX’s system includes SR 408 (Spessard Holland East-West Expressway), SR 528 (Martin Andersen Beachline Expressway), SR 417 (Central Florida GreeneWay), SR 429 (Daniel Webster Western Beltway), SR 414 (John Land Apopka Expressway) and State Road 451. She discussed the discounts currently extended to motorists impacted by the Ultimate I-4 project, the demolition of the 528 airport plaza, the status of the Wekiva Parkway, and the possible extension of SR 408 to SR 520.

Kelley previously served as deputy executive director of finance and administration, and was unanimously selected in May of 2015 by the board to serve as executive director. She is the first woman appointed to this position. Kelley first came to the authority in 2006 after a three-year stint as executive director of the Florida Transportation Commission. She has spent the past 30 years in management in the transportation industry.
