Prasad was named Secretary of the Florida Department of Transportation by Governor Rick Scott on April 18, 2011. Prior to being selected, Prasad served as the Assistant Secretary for Engineering and Operations for the agency. At the forum Prasad discussed the vision of Florida transportation for the 21st century, including updates on SunRail, Florida East Coast Railway and All Aboard Florida, as well as I-4. Prasad stressed the importance of growing private sector business in Orlando, and noted an increase in tourism in the past year.
