GrayRobinson Attorney Elected to Community Foundation for Brevard Board of Directors

MELBOURNE, FL - February 22, 2013 - Erik P. Shuman, an attorney in the Melbourne office of GrayRobinson, P.A., has been elected to the board of directors for the Community Foundation for Brevard (CFB). The CFB is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting important issues and needs within the Brevard County community. As a member of the board of directors, Shuman - also a past chair - will be involved in the strategic planning of the organization, management of funds, and oversight of fundraising activities.

A member of The Florida Bar Association and the American Bar Association, Shuman received an "AV" rating from Martindale-Hubbell. At GrayRobinson, Shuman focuses his practice in the areas of estate planning, guardianship, trusts, wealth transfer, and Medicaid planning. His experience covers all aspects of tax-sensitive estate planning, premarital planning, evaluation of financing options for long term nursing home care, comprehensive probate, and charitable giving, including the use of charitable trusts and other planned giving techniques.

Highly involved in the Brevard community, Shuman holds membership to the Brevard County Bar Association as well as the Brevard County Estate Planning Council. In recognition for his professional achievements, the Brevard Bar Association awarded him with the Professionalism Award in 2004. Among his other achievements, Shuman was named a top attorney by Florida Super Lawyers magazine in 2007 and 2012 and as an outstanding attorney by Best Lawyers in America magazine for 2010-2011.

Shuman received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida and earned his undergraduate degree from Emory University. Additionally, he attended the University of Stockholm Law School International Program.
