FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – March 17, 2017 – Attorney Gary I. Resnick, shareholder in GrayRobinson’s Fort Lauderdale law firm office, chair of the Communications, Cable & Broadband Law practice group and past chair of the FCC’s Intergovernmental Advisory Committee, recently presented at the 2017 National League of Cities (NLC) Congressional City Conference on March 11-15, 2017, in Washington D.C. As Vice-Chair of the Information Technology & Communications (ITC) Federal Advocacy Committee, Resnick led an open discussion on policy positions and NLC’s advocacy issues related to local government authority over communications facilities in the rifts of way.

The ITC Federal Advocacy Committee is responsible for developing policy and leading advocacy issues involving telecommunications and information systems (and public access to these systems), privacy concerns, cable TV, phone services, spectrum issues, communications tower siting, universal service, broadcasting, and defense of city rights-of-way from degradation caused by installation of communications facilities. Most recently, the Committee’s work focused on various ways localities can increase broadband access through municipal broadband, protecting local authority on technology-related tax issues such as the Internet Tax Freedom Act, and exploring the transition from old, copper-based telephone networks to digital and IP-based networks.
