GrayRobinson's recent Community Leader Forum held on May 29, 2013 in the firm's downtown Orlando office featured Bill Sublette, chair, Orange County Public Schools and Dr. Barbara Jenkins, Superintendent, Orange County Public Schools.

Sublette and Jenkins gave a joint presentation titled the "State of the Schools Address." Their presentation focused on the current state of affairs of Orange County Public Schools (OCPS), including the current vision of OCPS to be the top producer of successful students in the nation. They shared an overview of some of its major initiatives, including the implementation of Common Core Standards, the JA Academy for Leadership and Entrepreneurship, increasing digital literacy, improving security and easing overcrowding issues.

Sublette previously served in the Florida House of Representatives, during and after which he served in a variety of leadership roles for Orange County, before becoming Florida's first countywide elected Chair of a local school board, the Orange County Public School Board, in 2010.

Jenkins, unanimously voted as the district's new superintendent in 2012, previously served as the deputy superintendent as well as Senior Director for Elementary Education in Orange County. Jenkins has been a teacher, staff developer and principal and is a fellow of the nationally recognized Broad Urban Superintendents Academy.
