GrayRobinson Named Florida Today's Business of the Year in 2013 Volunteer Recognition Awards

MELBOURNE, FL - November 8, 2013 - Florida Today selected GrayRobinson, P.A. as the 2013 Business of the Year at its 22nd Annual Volunteer Recognition Awards celebration. Each year, this prestigious award recognizes and honors a business in Brevard County that embodies the spirit of volunteerism and has contributed to improving the welfare of the community. GrayRobinson is the first law firm to receive this award.

"GrayRobinson’s history in Brevard County dates back to the 1960’s and giving back to the communities where we operate has always been at the core of our company principles," said GrayRobinson President Byrd F. "Biff" Marshall, Jr.  "We are humbled and honored to be recognized with this award. It belongs to each and every attorney and employee who donated his or her time, money and talents to support countless organizations, charities and causes to ultimately make a positive impact in the Brevard community."

Members of GrayRobinson’s Melbourne office continually strive to make a difference in the lives of Brevard County citizens both on an individual level and through extensive office-wide efforts. Since 1993, the firm's Melbourne office raised tens of thousands of dollars for Brevard County causes as part of "Casual Day for a Cause" in which GrayRobinson attorneys and staff dress casually by making a donation to a cause selected by employee nominations.

In addition, attorneys frequently supply pro bono services to individuals in need, charities and nonprofits in the local community, and have also financially supported dozens of organizations and various initiatives that have reached hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations in just the past five years.

The GrayRobinson’s Melbourne office also hosts community events including a regular local art exhibition series in partnership with the Brevard Cultural Alliance, and Community Leader Forums that bring together clients, attorneys and friends of the firm to hear high profile business and community leaders and elected officials discuss issues of importance to Brevard County.

Candidates for Florida Today’s Volunteer Recognition Awards must meet at least one of the categories including: making an outstanding contribution to the area for the betterment of the citizens of the community, making a difference in intellectual, cultural, business, industrial or civic life through significant contribution, civic or employee involvement and showing a measurable impact on the community through employee participation, in-kind services or charitable giving.
