GrayRobinson’s Alan Goodman in Law360 Discussing Noncompete Agreements in Florida Related to COVID-19

Boca Raton, Fla. – July 7, 2020 – GrayRobinson Shareholder Alan Goodman, head of the commercial litigation practice group in the Boca Raton law firm office, authored an expert analysis in the Law360 article "COVID-19 Layoffs Likely Won’t Nullify Fla. Noncompetes." In the analysis, Goodman discusses whether or not Florida’s employees who have signed non-compete agreements can still be bound by them if they have been laid off due to COVID-19. Goodman writes, "The fact an employee was laid off due to COVID-19 has no legal impact on the employer’s ability to enforce its non-compete agreement against its employees. In summary, there is no such thing as a ‘fairness,’ or similar, defense under Florida law."
