Anastasia Protopapadakis Quoted in the Daily Business Review

MIAMI, FL – December 30, 2019 – Attorney Anastasia Protopapadakis, shareholder in GrayRobinson’s Miami and Fort Lauderdale law firm offices, was quoted in the Daily Business Review article, "7 Cases South Florida Attorneys Should Have on Their 2020 Radar."

The article examines an assortment of closely watched cases that South Florida attorneys have on their 2020 radar. Anastasia mentions that 2020 could bring an increase in Fair Housing Act (FHA) litigation involving website accessibility under the Americans With Disabilities Act and alleged wrongful denials of rentals. "We are seeing quite a few demand letters alleging FHA violations due to alleged inaccessible websites. We are also seeing several demand letters going out regarding alleged violations of the FHA due to alleged denials of rentals to 'convicted felons," Anastasia says. She goes on to explain that these FHA claims target apartment building owners, developers, and management companies.

Anastasia concludes by stating that depending on which claims end up being filed, how the courts treat them and what defense will emerge, the litigation could either have no effect at all or completely change the way applicants are screened for felony FHA claims.
