GrayRobinson Lobbyists Present at 2017 Legislative Session Overview

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- June 9, 2017 -- On June 8, 2017, GrayRobinson’s Jacksonville law firm office hosted a legislative "Session Wrap Up" panel presentation featuring GrayRobinson attorneys and lobbyists Christopher L. Carmody, Jr., Christopher T. Dawson, David Griffin and Robert  F. Stuart, Jr. Jacksonville managing shareholder Kenneth B. Jacobs welcomed approximately 70 guests to the event held at the River Club in downtown Jacksonville.

The event kicked off with an overview of this year’s legislative session. In total, there were 3,052 total bills filed and of those, only 249 passed both chambers. The total number of bills passed is the lowest total in the last 15 years. Following, the government relations and lobbying team presented on various topics including the budget, education, Visit Florida, Enterprise Florida, and solar energy.

Highlights included SB 90 (solar energy) being unanimously passed by the House and Senate and Jacksonville area vetoed projects and items that are currently being debated during the special session.
