Campbell McLean Receives the Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award

TAMPA, FL - April 19, 2017 – On April 8, 2017 GrayRobinson attorney Campbell McLean, shareholder in the Firm’s Tampa office, was awarded The Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award, by the Greater Tampa Bay Area Council.  The Silver Beaver Award is the highest, council-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America. Recipients of this award are registered adult leaders who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council. The Silver Beaver is an award given to those who implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self-sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service.

In addition to being and Eagle Scout, McLean has served on the board of the local council since 2012.  He has been providing legal counsel to the Scouts on real property matters and has been overseeing the creation of an environmental mitigation bank on the Scouts’ Camp Alafia property in Hillsborough County.  The Alafia River Mitigation Bank will provide the Scouts with a means to finance the restoration of the property to its native Florida habitat.  This will not only enhance the experience of Scouts and other who use Camp Alafia, but will also enhance the environment of Hillsborough County and the waters of the Alafia River.  Additionally, the project will provide a funding source that should allow the Scouts to establish an endowment which will maintain the camp in perpetuity.

The Alafia River Mitigation Bank will be the first of its kind for the Boy Scouts of America in Florida and will hopefully serve as a model for the preservation and enhancement of other Scout properties throughout the state.

McLean is a civil litigator and trial lawyer who concentrates his practice in the areas of eminent domain and real property. Since 1998, McLean has been handling eminent domain cases for both property owners and select condemning authorities across the State of Florida.
