Labor and Employment E-lert -- DOL Will Appeal the Injunction Blocking New Overtime Regulations

ORLANDO, FL - December 2, 2016 - As we notified you in a recent e-lert, on November 22, 2016, a Federal Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas issued a nationwide injunction blocking the United States Department of Labor’s ("DOL") new overtime regulations from taking effect. Prior to the injunction, the new overtime regulations were scheduled to take effect on December 1, 2016. As expected, the DOL, through the Department of Justice,  filed a notice of its intent to appeal the injunction. While the ultimate outcome on this issue is unclear, currently the injunction remains in place and the new overtime regulations remain on hold. The DOL issued a press release which can be found at https://www.dol.gov/featured/overtime. We will continue to monitor this situation. In the meantime, if you have any questions or wish to discuss, please contact us.
