Tampa, Fla. – February 18, 2021 – Labor and Employment Attorney Natasha Khoyi, associate in GrayRobinson’s Tampa law firm office, was appointed Director of Project H.E.L.P. (Homeless Experience Legal Protection) in Tampa. Project H.E.L.P. is a weekly clinic that provides free legal services to the homeless and indigent. Khoyi has been a participant of the program since 2016, completing approximately 100 pro bono hours annually. Since taking over as Director, Natasha has transitioned Project H.E.L.P. to a virtual clinic in order to continue serving clients during the pandemic.
H.E.L.P. began in New Orleans in early 2004, when a newly appointed federal district court judge, Jay Zainey, accompanied his fellow judges to serve a meal at a local shelter. Judge Zainey began to round up volunteer lawyers to staff a weekly clinic at the shelter. H.E.L.P. began to expand to other cities, encouraged by Judge Zainey and helped along by law firms who were volunteering in New Orleans but also had offices in other cities. Today, H.E.L.P. volunteers are providing free legal services to the homeless in over 15 cities, and the list continues to grow.
