GrayRobinson’s Richard Blau Featured in Beer Marketer's INSIGHTS

Tampa, Fla. – November 6, 2020 – Attorney Richard M. Blau, shareholder and chair of GrayRobinson’s alcohol beverage lawfood law and cannabis industry law groups, was featured in Vol 22, No 237 of INSIGHTS Express, Beer Marketer's INSIGHTS e-newsletter. The article, "Last Licks: Walmart Makes Final Bid to Sell A Suit to Sup Ct to Reverse ‘Blatantly Protectionist’ TX Law," discusses mega-retailer Walmart pushing Commerce Clause arguments hard to convince the U.S. Supreme Court to review and reject the 5th Circuit decision that upheld Texas law barring public corporations from having retail liquor licenses. The publication asked Mr. Blau for his take on the newly configured Supreme Court with addition of Judge Amy Coney Barrett and how it might affect these Commerce Clause issues. "The Court, as now constituted, is decidedly tilted far to the right," Mr. Blau explains. "Justices Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, and now Barrett likely will join Justice Alito and Thomas to form an indomitably conservative phalanx devoted to less government and more free enterprise.  Government regulations that stand in the way of free enterprise better have plenty of ‘concrete evidence’ to substantiate their interference with the marketplace. All of which should make Walmart very happy." To read the full article, visit Beer Marketer's INSIGHTS. (subscription required)
