Jim is an experienced estate lawyer and probate attorney in the firm’s Jacksonville and Gainesville offices. Jim represents buyers, sellers and management in various business transactions such as acquiring and selling businesses, adding shareholders and partners to existing businesses, acquiring, licensing or disposing of commercial assets, preparing shareholder buy-sell agreements and partnership agreements and entity reorganizations. Jim represents business owners and other individuals in estate and succession planning, wills, trusts and related estate planning structures. Jim also practices in the area of guardianship administration and probate litigation.

  • Background

    Jim is a husband and father of three.  His family lives in Jacksonville, Florida.  He began his legal career after a successful career in business.  After selling his privately-held business in Lafayette, Louisiana, he attended the University of Florida College of Law. Jim graduated in the top 10% of his law school class and served as president of the John Marshall Bar Association.

    Jim is a community and civic leader, active in his church, teaching various Bible study and Sunday School classes, occasionally singing with the praise choir, and head of the church's World Missions Council.  He is also a frequent participant of the Jacksonville Businessperson Fellowship and he is a member of The Florida Bar and the Jacksonville Bar Association.
