TALLAHASSEE, FL – February 24, 2020 – GrayRobinson's government affairs & lobbying practice group released its weekly GRay Matters Session newsletter, "2020 Session: Week 6”. A host of major bills that moved through the Legislature this week are discussed in this week’s newsletter. These include bills blocking life insurers from using genetic testing data, requiring parental consent for abortions, and creating a statewide regulatory framework for vacation rentals. “The Florida House of Representatives” section covers the passed legislation to sever the state contract with the embattled Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and a vote in favor of placing a school board term limits proposal on the ballot. A bill that would allow pharmacists to diagnose and treat the flu and strep throat, saving patients a trip to the doctor, cleared its first Senate panel, and has already been scheduled for its second committee hearing, the “Florida Senate” section reiterates. The newsletter’s “Bill of the Week” is a bill sponsored by Senator Debbie Mayfield that would update Florida law related to recreational vessels docked at marinas located within the waters of a deepwater seaport and the Florida Assocation of Counties is highlighted in this week’s “Client Spotlight”.
