Andy Bardos Featured in Law360

TALLAHASSEE, FL – June 19, 2019 – Attorney Andy Bardos, shareholder in GrayRobinson’s Tallahassee law firm office, was featured in the Law360 article "Fla. Says Land Buying Funds Can Go To Other Enviro Uses." The article focuses on the Florida Legislature’s appropriation of hundreds of millions of dollars in trust funds for various conservation purposes. Bardos, who represents the Florida Legislature, urged the First District Court of Appeal to reverse a trial court's judgment that the Legislature’s appropriations ran afoul of a 2014 constitutional amendment that directs money to the state's Land Acquisition Trust Fund. Bardos said the trial court strayed from constitutional text, giving no weight to the Legislature’s reasonable interpretation of the amendment. "It was broad by design," he continued on to state. "The framers anticipated that the needs of the state would evolve and change. Acquisition is not the sole need for the state." Read the full article here. (subscription required)
