WASHINGTON – GrayRobinson today announced the addition of former U.S. House of Representatives (FL-24) and 91st Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives Thomas “Tom” Feeney III to its Government Affairs and Lobbying Team. Feeney, who most recently served as the president and CEO of the Associated Industries of Florida (AIF), has specialized in business, real estate, space, defense, and local government law for the past 40 years.
“Tom is a seasoned advocate who has been deeply rooted in Florida’s government, legal, and business community for decades,” said GrayRobinson President and CEO Dean Cannon. “His connections and ability to coordinate on the local, state, and federal level with our team in D.C. will help further our clients’ business objectives. Working as of counsel in the Washington, D.C., office, Feeney will primarily focus on federal government advocacy, specializing in a variety of areas, including financial services, intellectual property and copyright, defense and aerospace, transportation, economic development, and tax policy. He will also focus on state and local government affairs, and will maintain a traditional legal practice in Florida.

Feeney has specialized in business, real estate, space, defense, and local government law for the past 40 years as an attorney with the law firm now known as Fowler, Feeney & Associates, P.A. Additionally, he has spent significant time advocating in Tallahassee and Washington for responsible health care reform; growth initiatives impacting aerospace, simulation, and high-tech manufacturing; and economic policy that promotes free enterprise and prosperity for Florida. He was actively involved in establishing and growing the I-4 Hi-Tech Corridor, Lake Nona’s Medical City, VA Medical Center, UCF Nursing School, modeling and simulation training industry, and space-related growth in Central Florida.
For the past decade, Feeney served as president and CEO of AIF, a business and trade organization known as the “Voice of Florida Business.” Prior to that, he served as a senior visiting fellow for The Heritage Foundation from 2009-2011. Feeney also served as a member of both the U.S. Congress and Florida House. Elected to the U.S. House in 2003, Feeney represented the 24th Congressional District of Florida until 2009. He served on the U.S. House Judiciary, Financial Services, and Science Committees, and was involved with the Intellectual Property Subcommittee; Intellectual Property Caucus; Space and Aviation Subcommittee; and Congressional Modeling, Simulation, and Training Caucus. Feeney got his start in public service when he was first elected to the Florida House in 1990. He served two terms before being chosen as Governor Jeb Bush’s running mate for the 1994 Election. In 1996, Feeney returned to the Florida House, where he was elected Speaker of the House by his peers for the 2000-2002 term.
Feeney currently serves on the board of directors of the Foundation of Florida’s Future, and as board treasurer of the Space Foundation. Feeney received his Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Penn State University. He is licensed to practice law in Florida.
