GrayRobinson’s Richard Blau Featured on Spectrum Bay News 9 Discussing Tampa Bars Breaking COVID-19 Restrictions

Tampa, Fla. – January 7, 2021 – Attorney Richard M. Blau, shareholder and chair of GrayRobinson’s alcohol beverage lawfood law, and cannabis industry law groups, was featured on the Spectrum Bay News 9 segment "Tampa Mayor Cracks Down on Bars Breaking COVID-19 Restrictions." The segment reported on Mayor Jane Castor’s announcement that any bar with more than two citations for violating COVID-19 emergency restrictions could have their liquor license suspended. Three Tampa bars that each already had been issued two violations of the City’s emergency order banning large crowds were videotaped entertaining huge crowds of revelers on New Year’s Eve, most without masks and none socially distancing. The three bar owners will now have to appear before the Tampa City Council to find out if their ability to serve alcohol will be suspended. Blau explains to Spectrum Bay News 9 the legal issues involved, and the likely arguments to be raised against, and in defense of, the bar owners.
