Brian Furgala Promoted to Shareholder

ORLANDO, FL – March 24, 2015 – Brian K. Furgala has been promoted to shareholder in the Orlando office of GrayRobinson. The promotion is effective March 1, 2015 and is a direct reflection of his hard work and dedication to the firm on a daily basis. Furgala joined the firm in 2003, working as a paralegal while attending law school. Upon graduation, he became  an associate and was promoted to senior associate in 2013. He focuses his practice on  assisting companies with employee benefits and employment-related issues.

Within the employee benefits area, Furgala drafts plan documents, consults with employers and fiduciaries on problem solving in relation to the management and operation of their plans, represents clients involved in IRS audits and DOL investigations, and provides technical advice to administrators and actuaries. Furgala also defends employers against claims in the investigation and litigation stages at the federal, state and local levels, including claims of wrongful termination, discrimination, retaliation and wage and hour issues.

Furgala has twice served as President of the Employee Benefits Council of Central Florida and is a member of The Florida Bar, the American Bar Association and the Orange County Bar Association. He is the co-chair of the ASPPA Education and Examination Committee and is also on the board of directors of the Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce.

Furgala earned his juris doctor from Barry University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Baldwin-Wallace College. He graduated from Leadership Apopka, Class II and Leadership Orlando, Class 82.
