Community Leader Forum – Orlando – Eddie Fernández, Clerk of Courts

On Wednesday, April 16, 2014, GrayRobinson’s Community Leader Forum hosted by GrayRobinson's Orlando office featured Eddie Fernández, Clerk of the Courts of Orange County, Florida.  Fernández spoke on the topic "The Clerk, The Courts and You – Making a Difference in Our Community."  He was appointed to the Clerk of Courts on January 17, 2014 by Florida’s Governor Rick Scott.  Prior to his appointment he practiced law with Shutts and Bowen, LLP and was previously elected to the Orange County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers’ Section Board of Directors.

"My priority is to be accessible,’’ Fernández, the first Hispanic Clerk of Court in Orange County, said in his comments after taking the oath. "To be accessible to the bench, the bar, the public and my deputy clerks. I want to know what I can do better. I want to know what the office can do better. I also want to know what we are doing great. There are a lot of things we do very well."

Upon appointing Fernández, Orange County’s first Hispanic Clerk, Scott cited "Eddie's reputation as a problem-solver and respected member of the Orlando community."
