Florida Governor Rick Scott Appoints Edwin A. Scales, III to the Sixteenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission
KEY WEST, FL. December 7, 2012 - Edwin A. Scales, III, of-counsel attorney in the Key West office of GrayRobinson, P.A., has been reappointed by Florida Governor Rick Scott to the Sixteenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission for a term ending July, 1, 2016. As a member of the commission, he will assist in the selection of judges in Florida's Sixteenth Judicial Circuit (i.e. Monroe County). At GrayRobinson, Scales primarily focuses his practice in the areas of appellate practice, commercial and real estate litigation, mediation and government relations. In 2009, Scales was first appointed to serve as a member to the Judicial Nominating Commission for Florida's 16th Judicial Court by former Governor Charlie Crist. Through GrayRobinson, Scales currently serves as the General Counsel to the Florida Citrus Commission, the agency head for Florida's Department of Citrus. Scales was appointed by former Florida Governor Jeb Bush in 2006 to the Board of Trustees of the Florida Keys Community College, and in 2011 he was reappointed to trustee board by Governor Rick Scott; both times Scales chaired the Board. Scales was also recently elected to serve on the Executive Committee of the Florida Bar's Board of Governors, after many years of service to the organization. Scales also serves on the Florida Commission on Ethics, having been appointed by former House Speaker, Dean Cannon. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Scales has an extensive background in both radio and television, hosting the weekly "Ed Scales Show" heard on Keys radio station US-1 (104.1 FM - www.us1radio.com) since 1999 and "The Legal Beagles" radio program in the Tampa Bay area from 1996 to 1998. Scales received his juris doctorate and an undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Florida. |
