GrayRobinson Shareholder Amy Schrader to Teach Administrative Practice Course at the Florida State University College of Law
TALLAHASSEE, Fl. -- November 12, 2012 -- Amy W. Schrader, a shareholder in the Tallahassee office of GrayRobinson, P.A., has been selected to teach Florida Administrative Practice for the upcoming 2013 spring semester at the Florida State University College of Law. The course is a study of the Florida Administrative Procedure Act (APA) and its interpretation by the courts, including theories of delegation to administrative agencies, points of entry to obtain administrative review, and the relationship between the roles of administrative law judges, agency heads and reviewing courts. "Amy's extensive experience litigating review of Florida's agency decisions and her unique understanding of their dispute resolution processes from years of firsthand experience provides her with an exceptional background to teach this course," said GrayRobinson President Byrd F. "Biff" Marshall, Jr. "As a Florida State College of Law alumna, there is no better way for Amy to give back to her alma mater than by sharing her knowledge with the future leaders of this profession." Schrader's work at GrayRobinson is primarily focused on assisting companies and individuals in their dealings with Florida agencies. Her clients include national laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, restaurants, commercial property owners and developers, retailers, and health care facilities and providers. She has extensive experience litigating review of agency decisions, including representation at formal administrative hearings and appeal of final agency actions through Florida's appellate courts. Many of her cases involve challenges to the validity of agency rules or proposed rules, and review or defense of agency procurement decisions. As an active member of the professional community, Schrader - a Tallahassee native -- holds memberships to The Florida Bar, the Maryland State Bar Association, Tallahassee Bar Association, Tallahassee Women Lawyers and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida. Earlier this year she was elected to serve as chair of The Florida Bar's Administrative Law Section for 2012-2013, and was named a Florida Super Lawyers' 2012 "Rising Star." Amy has also received the highest professional rating from Martindale Hubbell for attorneys admitted to The Bar less than 10 years. She received her Juris Doctor, Master of Arts, and undergraduate degrees from Florida State University.
